Distilled in unique methods and meticulously balanced, the whisky from Scotland’s Ayrshire Coast is smoky and precisely balanced with sweetness.Ailsa Bay’s distillery opened in 2007 on the same site as the Girvan distillery, and released this peated Lowland whisky as it’s first expression, described as “rich and earthy” with flavours of sweet liquorice and tar.===Tasting NotesNose -åÊIntense, smoky phenolic note but balanced with creamy, honeyed sweetness. Then…smoky bacon!Taste -åÊZingy, peaty kick layered with beautiful sweetness. A meaty character too ÛÒ crispy rasher with a hint of maple syrup.Palate -åÊHuge ÛÒ goes on forever. Again balance of smoke and sweet, savoury but candied spice notes ÛÒ due to the Oak casks (vanilla) and Hudson (oily, syrupy, sweet).
