Aquamarine and Diamond Ring. Pale blue and exceptionally transparent, it’s no surprise that aquamarine has its historic association with water. A sister stone to emerald, the aquatic connotations of aquamarine gave the stone its poetic name, and its reputation as a mariner’s gem, which would safeguard sailors on their voyages. Aquamarines have been popular throughout history, but during the Belle Epoque (around 1900-1914), their delicate blue-green tones were particularly prized, as they went so beautifully with the aesthetic of the age – platinum, diamonds and pearls, worn with pastel-coloured gowns. This particular aquamarine is emerald-cut to show off its beautiful transparency, and set within a diamond border, the metal with a subtle millegrain finish – the quintessential Belle Epoque jewel.

Why I love it…

“ This ring has an amazing profile, it sits perfectly flat on the finger. It’s very stylish and the aquamarine is a beautiful colour. ”
