Located in the North-east region of Morayshire, the heartland of malt whisky, Benriach displays all the traditional charm of a Speyside distillery. Built by John Duff in 1898, Benriach is one of the few distilleries with its own on-site floor maltings and draws its water from the Burnside Springs.The Benriach ‘Dunder’ is distilled from peated malted barley, matured in American oak casks and then finished in Dark Rum barrels. This whisky has been named after the residue of cane-juice left in the still after distillation of rum, ‘dunder’ which traditionally is used as a yeast source in the fermentation process of Jamaican rum and gives the rum a unique aroma and flavour.===Tasting NotesNose – Delicate peat smoke, floods over cinnamon apple sponge, crisp white pepper adds a gentle warmth.Palate – Roasted apples and pears dusted with demerara sugar and lemon peel, all infused with a crisp barley sweetness.Finish – Lingering wood smoke character.
