Diamond ring, circa 1950. This three-stone diamond ring is set with a trio of brilliant-cut diamonds, in platinum claw settings which allow light to flood into them. The modern round brilliant cut was in fact invented in 1919, but gradually gained prominence over the course of the 20th century, for its unparalleled ability to reflect light in the diamond back at the viewer. These three diamonds are beautifully matched, creating a continuous band of sparkle across the finger, creating an overall outline that sits better alongside wedding bands or other rings than some solitaires, making it a beautiful ring in its own right, or a great addition to any ring stack.
