Sapphire and diamond ring, early 20 th century . This sapphire and diamond ring is packed with ideas and different techniques, which come together beautifully to create a successful and very attractively unified design. The central diamond weighing half a carat is secured at the cardinal points by gold wire, attaching it to an openwork mount pavé-set with cushion-shaped diamonds alternating with stripes of calibré-cut sapphires. This extraordinary central section is supported by shoulders designed as leaves and embellished with additional diamonds – a wonderful finishing touch to this imaginative, technically accomplished and extremely attractive jewel.
